Services

I have over 10 years of university training, including my Bachelors in Psychology, Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical Psychology. I have worked in community mental health clinics, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, university psychology clinics, youth detention centres, and private practice clinics. I am also a consultant for CBT Connections where I train therapists in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

My ultimate goal as a psychologist is to make you feel comfortable to engage in therapy. I meet clients where they are and tailor therapy to fit your unique situation and needs. I participate in ongoing continuing education to provide my clients with the most up-to-date evidence-based practice.

Therapy

I am committed to best practice standards for the psychological services I provide to children, adolescents, adults. I believe strongly in client-centered, collaborative formulations and treatment plans that are founded on evidence-based practice.

My primary therapeutic orientation is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT has repeatedly been shown to be effective in the treatment of various mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, and chronic pain. CBT is short-term with the goal of teaching skills that you or your child can implement in everyday life. The cognitive component is recognizing unhelpful thinking patterns and helping you or your child develop more helpful/realistic ways of thinking. The behavioural component involves developing coping strategies to manage mood or worries, such as relaxation strategies and gradually facing fears. In addition to CBT, I integrate components of other interventions when appropriate, such as Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT).
